Tyre Repairs

Often your tyres may not need replacing. If the damage is superficial or repairable, our team of expert mechanics will look to carry out repairs before replacement is necessary. If you have had a puncture we may be able to restore the integrity of the internal lining. From this we can plug the access point to create an airtight and sturdy repair.

Our team will assess whether your tyre is in a safe condition to repair or whether it needs replacing. It may be that your threads are showing or the walls are bulging, meaning it would be unsafe to repair and a replacement may be necessary for your safety.

Economy & Premium Tyres

Customers frequently face a dilemma when deciding between budget, mid-range and premium tyres. So which is better, premium or economy? Our tyres all meet UK safety standards, so it’s really just a matter of preference. Economy tyres are an excellent choice for those on a tight budget or who only drive their car occasionally.

If you drive your car a lot, take a lot of long trips, or own a performance vehicle, however, investing in a mid-range or premium brand is likely to be more cost-effective in the long run.

This is due to the fact that premium tyres are long-lasting and durable, as well as providing superior grip, reduced wear and increased fuel efficiency. For any make and model of car or van, we have a wide selection of economy and premium. So, no matter what your budget or circumstances are, we can help you choose, supply, and fit the best tyres for you and your vehicle.

Wheel Balancing and Alignment

The way your tyres wear is influenced by wheel balancing and alignment. If your tracking is off, your tyres may wear unevenly, resulting in more frequent replacements. Potholes, speed bumps and kerbing can all cause your vehicle’s alignment to shift, resulting in your vehicle pulling to one side. As standard, we will balance your wheels after installation. However, we can also provide balancing and alignment as an add-on service; please contact us to schedule an appointment.

UK Tyre Legislation

The legal minimum for tyres, according to UK law, is 1.6mm of tread across the central three-quarters of the tyre all the way around the tyrWorn tyre treads. Bulging tyre walls and punctures are all a potential hazard for drivers. However, it’s not just dangerous to drive on unsafe tyres, it’s illegal too! According to UK tyre legislation, all four tyres must have a minimum of 1.6 mm of tread around the full circumference that spans 75% of the centre of the tyre. If you are below the legal limit you face a fine of up to £2500 and 3 points on your driving license, per illegal tyre. That can equate to £10,000 and a driving ban. Don’t leave it to chance. If you think your tyres may be wearing low then we are happy to inspect them for you, just give us a call to book an appointment. If your tyre tread is below the legal minimum, you run the risk of a £2,500 fine and 3 points on your licence. Don’t risk driving on illegally worn tyres. Give us a call to book your tyre replacement today on 01626 363 630.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not only is proper tyre pressure vital for safety, but it also helps with fuel efficiency. The right information for your car may be found in the manufacturer’s manual, and it is measured in both Bar and pounds square inch (PSI). This data may also be seen within the rim of the driver’s door in various vehicles (and sometimes on the petrol cap).

This information may be found in the car manufacturer’s manual or on the sidewall of your current tyres and is crucial when scheduling a tyre change.

Car tyres are required by law to have 1.6mm tread depth in the centre 75% of the tyre (the tread pattern must be visible in the remaining 25%). The minimum for motorbikes is 1.0mm in the centre 75% of the vehicle.

If your vehicle’s tyres are considered unroadworthy, whether due to insufficient tread depth, apparent damage, or vehicle incompatibility, you might face a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points on your licence. This applies to each individual tyre, not to the entire vehicle.

When driving on worn out tyres, it’s not simply the legal difficulties that might cause problems. Inadequate tread depth increases braking distance, which is especially dangerous on snowy roads, and a tyre that is not filled to the proper pressure impairs fuel economy and handling abilities.
